At nineteen I was entering more than just adulthood - I was leaving behind years of abuse. As I lived in the house of friends I knew that something would soon break. The flashbacks were real. The nightmares terrifying. The world had suddenly became a miserable existence.
This is the story of my first year after leaving the abusive home of my parents. It is written as I lived through it. The chaos of dealing with my new life and the horrible feelings of realizing my life was anything but a fantasy life.

It's one thing to suffer through PTSD yourself, but something else entirely to read through another's experiences. You can practically taste the catharsis of writing these things down. There is so much pain in these pages, but there is also a sort of detached eloquence. While she records the events, they are no longer part of her. She can analyze them with the sort of scientific scrutiny an outsider would be capable of. That being said, whether you're into these types of narratives or not, Fantasy Life is worth a read, if only so you can better understand how PTSD feels to the one experiencing it.Product details

A very sad yet, touching read. Some aspects hit close to home on a personal level. The writer made me feel everything.
This book BLEW ME AWAY. It was so powerful, motivating and inspiring. She really captures the struggle of PTSD and shows there is hope for those in these situations. Definitely a talented author I will be looking into more after reading this.
